Infographic: Spring Cleaning Tips And Tricks

Ah, Spring! Weather is warmer, days are longer, sun is shining, and you can finally clean your whole house!

You surely have been waiting for this to come, didn’t you? Jokes aside, spring cleaning is something that has become one of the usual tasks in every household. When we hear spring cleaning, we think of  wiping all floors, rearranging all kitchen cabinets, and dusting all those hidden corners that you usually walk past during your regular cleaning. This is indeed a huge task and it might take a few days to do it properly and all over the house – depending on the size of your home, of course.

With years of experience in the Raleigh maid service industry, you gather some tips and tricks that make it much easier and faster. We decided to share some of our tips with you, in an infographic! We listed main tasks you should do in each room of your house, along with some additional tricks like DIY cleaning solutions and how you can go a step further when cleaning a certain room. Scroll down for tips!

Bedroom

What you will do:

Wash floors, Do laundry, Vacuum, Dust, Throw trash, Wipe surfaces

Tasks:

  • Wash windows and curtains
  • Wash bedding and freshen up the mattress and pillows
  • Dust all furniture
  • Vacuum and wipe floor
  • Dust lamps and picture frames
  • Empty each drawer, wash it and put everything back neatly

Do even more:

  • Declutter your wardrobe, shelves and drawers
  • Throw or donate your old clothes, books you don’t read, and things you don’t use at least once a week

Bathroom

What you will do:

Wash floors, Do laundry, Dust, Throw trash, Wipe surfaces

Tasks:

  • Wash mirrors
  • Wash towels
  • Clean sink and drain
  • Wash the floor
  • Clean toilet inside and outside
  • Clean tub, shower head and drain
  • Empty all cabinets and shelves, wipe them and put things back neatly

Do even more:

  • Throw away any expired or unused cosmetic products
  • Check grout lines  and reseal them if necessary
  • Shine all faucets and other metal parts

How long can products stay open?

  • 6 months: mascara, lip gloss, liquid eyeliner
  • 12 months: sunscreen, cleanser, foundation, eye shadow, lotion, lipstick
  • 24 months: shampoo, blush, powder, eyeliner, shower gel

Living Room & Dining Room

What you will do:

Wash floors, Do laundry, Vacuum, Dust, Throw trash, Wipe surfaces

Tasks:

  1. Living Room
    • Wash all pillows and covers and vacuum sofas
    • Clean all the electronics carefully
    • Vacuum and wipe floor
    • Dust lamps and picture frames
    • Dust all shelves, furniture and decorations
    • Water the plants
  2. Dining Room
    • Dust any displayed dishes
    • Wipe table and chairs
    • Wash chair pillows

Do even more:

  • Sort your books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, games, etc.
  • Dust your walls and wall trimmings
  • Wash curtains if you have any

Kitchen

What you will do:

Wash floors, Do laundry, Dust, Throw trash, Wipe surfaces

Tasks:

  • Wash and sanitize counters
  • Clean sink and drain
  • Clean stove top and oven
  • Wmpty all cabinets and drawers, wipe them and put everything back neatly
  • Clean freezer and fridge
  • Wash floor
  • Clean all small appliances

Do even more:

  • Organize your cabinets, pantry freezer and fridge
  • Clean your dishwasher and wash dishes
  • Sanitize cutting boards and sharpen knifes

DIY cleaning solutions for kitchen

  • Unclog drains with baking soda and vinegar – put a tablespoon of baking soda down the drain and pour in some vinegar, let it bubble
  • Clean the oven with baking soda and water – mix baking soda and water until you get a smooth paste, spread it over your oven, let it sit overnight, wipe it with damp cloth

Home Office

What you will do:

Wash floors, Vacuum, Dust, Throw trash, Wipe surfaces

Tasks:

  • Clean all the electronics carefully
  • Vacuum and wipe floor
  • Dust lamps
  • Dust all shelves, furniture and decorations
  • Water the plants

Do even more:

  • Organize and hide all loose wires and cables
  • Organize your bills and medical papers
  • Clean your computer keyboard

Additional office tips:

  • Organize files on your computer
  • Delete all unnecessary programs and apps
  • Scan your computer for viruses
  • Sell or donate unused gadgets

Don’t forget

There are some tasks that you can and should do in each room of your house.

  1. Collect and take out trash
  2. Open all windows
  3. Wash all doors and knobs
  4. Wash all switch plates
  5. Clean all carpets
  6. Check all corners
  7. Declutter wherever you can
  8. Remove spots if necessary

Additional tip:

  • If you have any pets, clean your pet’s area & toys
